How to make a fused glass bird

More specifically, a rose ringed parakeet.

These beautiful birds were all over the place in Mannheim, Germany where I lived for four years. My husband I a affectionately called them "green birds" and we loved to point them out to each other on walks, or from our balcony. We could also hear them squawking all the time!

I decided to make a piece depicting one of these parakeets because they remind me of that exciting time living abroad.
